Hello My Friends… I’m Still Here

Happy Monday! Just wanted to let you know I didn’t fall off the face of the decorating blog world… I’ve actually taken some time off last week and a nice break from my computer. Of course, during this break I spent some time rearranging furniture around.

This Ikea bookshelf was originally standing up and was only holding some books on the bottom shelf, then the other 3 shelves were displaying decor items… thinking to myself, this is a bit of wasted space. I was contemplating buying another shelf to hold all my magazines… so began the rearranging. My apartment looks a little bit like I’m moving (cropped nicely out of this photo of course) but a great time to reorganize and clean out the clutter. I still need to find some flowers (or something) for the wooden vase on the end. The art above I painted many years ago, I think it may be time to start painting new artwork. My taste has changed and more drawn to abstract art these days, this was done during my geometric shape phase. (Note, this picture didn’t turn out as well as I’d like, trust me, it looks better in person).

Another change was my bedding. I’ve had the same chocolate brown color scheme everywhere including my bedding and it’s time for a change. So I pulled out the new black duvet I just purchased… I know what you’re thinking, black, are you crazy? Well, no, I”m not crazy, but I luv the bold statement it makes when I walk into my room. I actually didn’t start out by choosing black bedding, how it began was I found this great fabric (below) and thought it would be great to make some pillows for my bed… but wouldn’t match my current brown duvet… so, black it was. Now I just need to make the pillows!

I’m moving away from my brown and pink phase and would really like to go to Black/White/Grey scheme with hints of color in accessories and art. This will take some time to change, but that’s the plan. The only big ticket item is my couch (brown of course) but I’m sure I’ll get creative somehow.
