What Do Design Sponge and My Habit Have in Common?

Great taste, that’s what.  I have exciting news!!  The lovely and talented woman behind Design*Sponge at Home has partnered with MYHABIT.com to host their first curated sale.  As we are all fans Grace Bonney, I’m sure you’ll be excited too.

I received an email today from the people at MYHABIT.com and here are the goods:

The sale will feature signed copies of the book, which provides D.I.Y projects and design tips, as well as an exciting assortment of hand selected home accents.  Items will include lamps and throw pillows from notable designers/tastemakers such as Blissliving Home, Rhodia, Shine Labs, Graphic Image and Judy Ross for up to 60% off with fast, free shipping and free returns.

For the first time, customers will be able to view a video with the curator, in which Bonney provides step-by-step instructions for decorating a lamp that she describes as “shiny, happy, girly” – three words she also uses to describe the theme for her curation.

Bonney says, “I love when objects have something that sparkle or something that makes me feel special.”

The sale will begin tomorrow, October 13th at 9:00 am PT / 12:00 pm ET.

{Videos} Anthology Magazine

As I started creating my list of online magazines, I came across Anthology Magazine which I hadn’t heard of yet and I’m always excited to discover new things.  They currently post a “teaser” of the print version which I think is brilliant. At the same time, I do agree with a lot of bloggers out there that yes, it’s very nice to have an amazing assortment of online magazines but I think we can all agree we also love the traditional hard copy version of our favorites.  I wait impatiently every month for the next issue to arrive at my local bookstore or in the mail.  With so many of our favorites that are no longer around {Oh Domino, how do I miss thee} I came across this clever and adorable video by the lovely folks at Anthology Magazine called “Print is not Dead”.  It was posted to promote their launch issue in September 2010 and is still relevant today.

Cute don’t you think? I liked the little details of the hand-made typewriter.  In addition to the video above, they also post “teaser” videos of their issues… something new that I’ve not seen before.  Here is their current issue 3 teaser:

Anthology is a quarterly magazine and is printed in limited edition. I think it’s a bit pricey but I do beleive in supporting these types of ventures. I hope the prices of the online versions of these magazines will come down as I’ve seen others such as Rue and Lonny offer print copies as well of  their online editions.

Happy reading.

The Stylish Kelly Framel from the Glamorai

I was watching The Nate Berkus Show last night and watched in awe a lovely lady by the name of Kelly Framel from the glamourai proudly showing viewers her home…. it’s simply glamorous!  I immediately wanted to share it with you all… but first I emailed Kelly to make sure it was OK (you never know right)…. and of course it was, how lovely.

First, get to know Kelly, here is a clip backstage at The Nate Berkus Show, I’m so impressed with her style.  A talented jewelery designer (side note, check out her jewelery at http://kellyframel.com/, it’s just as glamorous as she is!).

Now for the jewels, here is her apartment… I simply can’t get over how everything works together, mixing old and new yet everything looks contemporary. Splashes of gold throughout is very apparent, it’s the perfect sparkle… I think gold has come a long way, I’m noticing it more and more.

Here is her living room, before and after… they are both amazing… I can’t decide, I like them both.

I’m always amazed what a can of paint and a dash of imagination can do.  By painting this both black and white gives it such interest and appeal.  What a beautiful find and a well-executed transformation.  Beautifully styled with a large mirror, a black and white frame, trays and of course jewelery.

Can I say jealous!  The clothes, the shoes, I only wish my closet was this rich with choices.  This closet photo is only one of many, check here to see more.

Additional home tour photos, this home is so well put together.  Take a peak at the utensils in the background cleverly placed in clear glasses, brilliant.  It’s simple details like that that make the difference.

I’m always so impressed and enjoy discovering creative people.  I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.
